UNITED INTRODUCES SKI HANDLING PROGRAM ALLOWING SKIERS TO TRAVEL LIGHT
CHICAGO, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines, the skier's airline, announced today an innovative program designed to let skiers travel light. With United's "Up-the-Hill/Down-the-Hill" program, passengers now have the flexibility of checking bags and ski equipment prior to their departure date. United and United Express will fly the ski equipment to the destination and hold it in a secure area until the passenger arrives.
To take advantage of United's new program, customers need only to bring their United ticket along with their skis, ski equipment or baggage to the airport one to two days in advance of their departure. "We found that skiers travel with a substantial amount of baggage, especially if they are traveling with their families. This new program allows customers to lighten their load by bringing their skis and luggage to the airport prior to their departure date, making their travel day easier," said Adam M. Aron, senior vice president marketing.
Customers using United's Up-the-Hill/Down-the-Hill program may confirm arrival of skis and equipment by calling United Airlines at 800-221-6903.
United's new flights to ski destinations will operate on a seasonal basis from Dec. 17, 1992 to April 20, 1993.
United previously announced additional non-stop service from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport to Jackson Hole (daily) and Gunnison/Crested Butte, Hayden/Steamboat and Vail (Saturday only). From Denver's Stapleton International Airport, United will provide daily service to Gunnison/Crested Butte, Hayden/Steamboat, Vail and Jackson Hole.
Additional ski locations served by United and United Express and offering "Up-the-Hill/Down-the-Hill" service are Aspen, Salt Lake City, Reno/Lake Tahoe and Albuquerque.
