 UNITED FOOD AND COMMERCIAL WORKERS LOCAL 876 CONTINUES NEGOTIATIONS
 WITH KROGER, A&P
 MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 876, is continuing separate negotiations with both the Kroger Company (NYSE: KR) and the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (NYSE: GAP) (A&P).
 Both contracts expired Jan. 4, 1992, and are being negotiated on a day-to-day basis under signed extension agreements from both companies.
 Local 876 is seeking a fair and equitable settlement for the almost 10,000 clerks and cashiers it represents between the two companies.
