UNITED CITIES FILES FOR GEORGIA RATE INCREASE BRENTWOOD, Tenn., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- United Cities Gas Co.
(NASDAQ-NMS: UCIT), the Nashville area-based natural and propane gas distributor, announced today it has filed with the Georgia Public Service Commission requesting a general rate increase totaling $3.2 million annually in revenues.
The application filed represents an overall rate increase of 6.1 percent for approximately 69,000 natural gas customers in Columbus and Gainesville, Georgia. Once approved by the Commission, new rates would be in effect by Nov. 1, 1992. Gene C. Koonce, United Cities' president and chief executive officer, cited increased costs for supplies and labor as the primary reason for the proposed increase. United Cities has invested more than $8 million to provide new mains and services in Georgia since the last rate increase in December of 1988. United Cities Gas Company distributes natural and propane gas to approximately 295,000 customers in nine states.
