KSS specializes in healthcare and food ingredients markets and assets include "Hi Japan," the largest food ingredients show in Japan, the "Tokyo Health Industry Show" and the "Drug Store Show." KSS publications include Food Processing Food processing is the set of methods and techniques used to transform raw ingredients into food for consumption by humans or animals. UBM said the purchase price equals to a multple of one time KSS' 2000 revenues and four times 2000 pre-tax earnings.

UBM said the purchase will allow CMP Asia to expand into the Japanese market and provide "growth opportunities in the wider Asia Pacific region." CMP Asia ceo/president Peter Sutton noted that Japan "has the world's second largest pharmaceutical and food ingredients markets and both are expanding at a healthy rate." The deal "will provide many excellent revenue generating opportunities as we expand the portfolio," Sutton said.

Other recent UBM acquisitions include Allison Fisher Allison Fisher (born February 24, 1968) is a snooker and pool player. She took the women's snooker world by storm, winning her first world title at the age of 17. To date, she has won over 80 national titles and 11 world titles in total.  International and Roper Starch Worldwide.
