UNITED AIRLINES WELCOMES UNITED EXPRESS TO FLORIDA; CARRIER WILL IMPROVE SERVICE TO MIAMI, ORLANDO

CHICAGO, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines said today that it welcomes the improved Florida air service that will become available to the traveling public beginning April 1 when United's partner carrier, United Express, launches a major expansion within the state.
United Express will offer 56 daily flights, allowing convenient connections to United flights at Orlando, a domestic connecting point, and to Miami, United's principal gateway to Latin America.
"We are delighted to welcome United Express to the important and growing air travel markets within Florida," said Rakesh Gangwal, senior vice president-planning for United. "These new flights will make it especially attractive and convenient for passengers making connections either in Orlando for domestic United flights or in Miami for international United flights to Central and South America."
United Express will serve the intrastate Florida market with a fleet of six British Aerospace Jetstream 31 turboprops seating 19 passengers.
The carrier's initial schedule calls for round-trip service between Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale (3 daily flights), Jacksonville (3), Miami (4), Melbourne (3), Ft. Myers (1), Sarasota (1) and Tampa (1).
The flights will be timed to allow connections to United flights operating between Orlando and Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Newark, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
The Miami schedule includes round-trip service to Orlando (four flights), Melbourne (3) and Tampa (6).
These flights will facilitate connections through Miami to Latin American destinations flown by United such as Buenos Aires, Caracas, Grand Cayman, Mexico City, Panama, Port of Spain, Rio De Janeiro, San Jose, San Salvador, Santiago and Sao Paulo.
