UNITED AIRLINES TRAFFIC INCREASES 5.3 PERCENT

CHICAGO, July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines today reported that its total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 5.3 percent in June compared with the same month of 1992.
The airline's total scheduled RPMs were 9,085,502,000 compared with 8,631,296,000 in June of 1992.
The passenger load factor was 70.4 percent, a decrease of 2.6 points from 73.0 percent a year ago.
In commenting on the month of June, J.C. Pope, president and chief operating officer, said, "Overall, our systemwide traffic remains quite strong. The year-over-year decline in load factor reflects the fact that domestic traffic in June a year ago was unusually high due to the 50 percent sale. Our systemwide revenue passenger yields, however, continue to be weaker than anticipated."
For June, domestic revenue passenger miles totaled 5,760,512,000, an increase of 2.6 percent from 5,612,186,000 accumulated in June a year ago.
