UNITED AIRLINES PLANS NEW YORK-SAO PAULO NON-STOP SERVICE

 CHICAGO, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines announced today it plans to inaugurate non-stop service Oct. 1 between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Sao Paulo, Brazil, with continuing service to Rio de Janeiro.
 "This route further enhances United's Latin America service from the New York area, which already includes non-stop flights linking it with Buenos Aires, Caracas and Port of Spain," said Stephen M. Wolf, chairman and chief executive officer. "Our new flights will bring added convenience to business and leisure travelers flying between New York and Sao Paulo."
 United's schedule will consist of daily southbound and northbound service operated in Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
 Flight 987 will depart from New York at 9:35 p.m. and arrive in Sao Paulo at 8:15 a.m. the following morning. The flight then will depart from Sao Paulo at 9:15 a.m. and arrive in Rio de Janeiro at 10:10 a.m.
 Flight 988 will depart from Rio de Janeiro at 7:20 p.m. and arrive in Sao Paulo at 8:25 p.m. The flight will leave Sao Paulo at 9:40 p.m. and arrive at New York's Kennedy Airport at 6:30 a.m.
