 UNITED AIRLINES PIONEERS CELLULAR PHONE RENTAL SERVICE
 THROUGH ITS RED CARPET CLUBS
 CHICAGO, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines announced today it will make portable cellular telephones available to members of the airline's Red Carpet Club.
 The cellular phones will be pre-programmed for the area code corresponding to the customer's destination, thus making it possible to fly to the destination and begin using the phone to place and receive phone calls throughout the country direct, eliminating the need for long-distance calling cards.
 For example, a passenger flying from San Francisco to Chicago can pick up the phone in San Francisco, fly to Chicago and use the phone immediately upon arrival.
 "We at United are delighted to pioneer this innovative service, which allows our customers to increase their productivity while traveling," said Adam M. Aron, senior vice president-marketing. "We expect that our business travelers who need to keep in touch with colleagues will especially appreciate the convenience of using cellular phones."
 United is offering the cellular phone rentals in conjunction with Road and Show Cellular, America's leader in cellular phone rentals. Initially, cellular phones may be rented in United's Red Carpet Clubs at Los Angeles International Airport and San Francisco International Airport. By the first week of February, the service will also be offered at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. Other locations will be added throughout the year.
 Adding to the attractiveness of the offer, Road and Show Cellular is waiving daily rental charge for Red Carpet Club members. Therefore, the only cost to users will be the air time and any applicable surcharges. Cellular phones can be rented on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. All major credit cards are accepted.
 At the completion of the business trip, the customer simply returns the phone to Road and Show Cellular's representatives at the Red Carpet Club or, if preferred, ships the phone via a Federal Express shipping envelope provided in the phone carrying case.
