UNITED AIRLINES LAUNCHES NEW SERVICE TO GLASGOW AND ZURICH FROM WASHINGTON, D.C.'S DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

CHICAGO, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines will inaugurate new non-stop service between Washington, D.C.'s Dulles International Airport and Glasgow, Scotland, and Zurich, Switzerland, on Wednesday, June 9. Westbound service will begin the following day.
"With these new flights, United continues to build its convenient Washington Dulles gateway to Europe," said Stephen M. Wolf, chairman and chief executive officer. "As of Wednesday, we will offer the traveling public non-stop service between Dulles and nine popular European cities: Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Glasgow, London, Madrid, Paris, Rome and Zurich, plus same-plane service to Milan."
Dulles offers smooth, one-stop connections to Europe for business and pleasure travelers from more than 50 North American cities served by United and United Express, its partner carrier.
United's Dulles-Glasgow service will be operated in Boeing 767-200ER aircraft seating 10 passengers in First Class, 32 in Connoisseur Class and 122 in Economy Class. Flight 938 will depart at 6:15 p.m. and arrive in Glasgow at 6:05 a.m. the following morning. Flight 939 will depart from Glasgow each day at noon and arrive at Dulles at 2:50 p.m. United's Catering Division has forged a link with the award-winning One Devonshire Gardens Hotel in Glasgow to create special menus for First Class and Connoisseur Class passengers for the new Glasgow-Dulles flights.
Each menu features a special Scottish item such as a First Class appetizer of Loch Fine Salmon Cornet with fresh prawns, an entree choice of either medallions of venison enhanced by wine sauce and offered with herbed baby carrots, red cabbage and garlic potatoes or Scottish salmon on a delicate champagne butter sauce served with asparagus tips and a hearty lentil compote that mixes the flavors of garlic, turnips and carrots with fresh basil and parsley.
On flights from Glasgow there is an afternoon tea service that includes smoked salmon sandwiches, Scottish scones with clotted cream and conserves and a slice of Dundee cake.
United's Dulles-Zurich service will be operated in Boeing 767-300 aircraft seating 14 passengers in First Class, 40 in Connoisseur Class and 154 in Economy Class. Flight 964 will depart from Dulles each day at 5:15 p.m. and arrive in Zurich at 7:10 a.m. the following day.
Flight 965 will depart from Zurich every day except Saturday at 12:05 p.m. and arrive at Dulles at 3:15 p.m. On Saturdays, the flight will depart at 11:55 a.m. and arrive at 3:05 p.m.
Travelers using Dulles this spring and summer will reap the benefits of a $13 million investment United has made to upgrade its facilities there.
Among the improvements made or in progress are the expansions of the check-in counter to 68 positions, of the midfield concourse to 38 gates, of the passenger gate rooms by more than 20,000 feet and of public restrooms.
