UNITED AIRLINES APRIL TRAFFIC INCREASES 17.5 PERCENT

CHICAGO, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines today reported that its total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 17.5 percent while available seat miles (ASMs) grew by 13.4 percent in April compared with the same month of 1992. The scheduled passenger load factor was 64.7 percent compared with 62.5 percent a year ago.
"While our systemwide traffic increase in April is impressive, the Pacific continues to show weakness with load factor down 2.3 points from a year ago," said J.C. Pope, president and chief operating officer. "This, coupled with lower yields in the Pacific, continues to affect our revenue performance."
