UNISYS AND ITI ANNOUNCE PC-BASED IMAGE-STATEMENT-PRINT SOLUTION
 FOR FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
CHICAGO, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) and Information Technology Inc. (ITI), of Lincoln, Neb., have announced that they will co-market a PC-based image-statement-print solution.
The system will enable financial institutions to provide their customers with account statements that include images of checks, instead of traditional statements that return the actual checks. The PC-based image-statement-print solution will be available in the first quarter of 1993. Prices range from $250,000 to $350,000, depending on configuration.
Unisys and ITI are demonstrating the image-statement-print application at the Bank Administration Institute Foundation's Image Technology in Banking Conference, held this week at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers.
A typical Unisys/ITI image-statement-print solution will consist of ITI's image-statement-print application software, Unisys PW2 Advantage personal computers and DP500 document-processor transport, optical storage devices, and image printers. In addition to printing statements, the ITI image-statement-print application software will give financial institutions the ability to:
-- Include images of checks when issuing advices and notices.
-- Store check images for archival purposes.
-- Retrieve check images in response to customer inquiries.
-- Provide check images for use in signature verification.
Image Statements Reduce Operating Costs and Postage; Improve Customer Service and Marketability
Bankers can realize significant benefits from image-statement-print technology:
-- Reduce operating costs, by eliminating the handling necessary to return cancelled checks.
-- Reduce postage costs. Streamlined image statements cost less to mail than conventional statements containing cancelled checks.
-- Improve customer service, by issuing an easy-to-read, standard- sized image statement.
-- Improve marketability. Financial institutions can attract new customers by offering image statements.
This expanded alliance between ITI and Unisys brings to the market strong banking application and check image processing experience. ITI banking software is used by nearly 3,000 banks in the United States. And Unisys has long been a premier supplier of payment system solutions to the financial services industry.
Information Technology Inc. (ITI), headquartered in Lincoln, is a leading supplier of banking application solutions for Unisys computer systems.
Unisys Corporation is a leading information systems company with 60,000 customers in more than 100 countries. The corporation is a major supplier of commercial information systems, defense systems and related services.
