         UNION-AT&T TALKS TO RESUME LATER SUNDAY MORNING
    Negotiators for CWA, the IBEW, and AT&T recessed formal contract


talks temporarily, and will resume at 10:00 a.m. today.
    Earlier, union and AT&T officials announced that the parties would continue bargaining past the contract expiration -- 11:59 p.m. last night -- "so long as progress is being made."
    CWA President Morton Bahr announced jointly that, "We have made progress in intense negotiations over the course of the day (Saturday), and we hope to be able to achieve a settlement, but we cannot predict at this time when a settlement might come."
    National bargaining is taking place at two tables.  The National Units table will begin meeting at 10 a.m., and the National Operations table is expected to meet around 3 p.m.
    CWA's media relations office will be staffed from 1 p.m. on and will issue periodic updates to reporters following this story.
