UNION SWITCH WINS CONTRACT WITH CN

 PITTSBURGH, Pa., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Union Switch & Signal Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: UNSW) has been awarded a contract to provide material and engineering for a signal control system to be installed on the Deux-Montagnes Subdivision of the CN North America's commuter line. Walter Alessandrini, US&S president and CEO, made the announcement.
 The contract was awarded by CANAC International Inc., a subsidiary of CN Rail.
 The $9.3 million system will replace a mixture of automatic block signaling, interlocking control and non-signaled track that currently exists on the 21.5-mile Deux-Montagnes Subdivision.
 The system will control 16 interlockings and 19 intermediate signal locations. It will include US&S TRU-II phase selective track circuits at the interlockings, 27 US&S M23B switch machines, 156 US&S H-2 searchlight high signals, 17 US&S H-2 searchlight dwarf signals and US&S PN-150B plug-in relays for vital control logic.
 The upgrade of 16 highway crossing warning systems is also part of the contract, which is scheduled to be completed in 1994.
