UNION SWITCH & SIGNAL NAMES DIRECTOR OF MANUFACTURING

 COLUMBIA, S.C., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas Pidgeon has joined Union Switch & Signal (US&S) (NASDAQ-NMS: UNSW) as director of manufacturing for the Components Division facility in Batesburg, S.C., US&S President and CEO Walter Alessandrini announced.
 Pidgeon formerly was vice president and general manager of GEC Automation Projects Inc. of Macon, Ga. He will be responsibile for all the plant's product manufacturing operations and will report directly to Kevin E. Riddett, vice president of the Components Division. Alessandrini said continuing growth in the Components Division led to the decision to add Pidgeon's position.
 US&S is a leader in the design and manufacture of signaling, control and automation products and systems for the railroad and mass transit industries. Headquartered in Columbia, S.C., the company has its Components manufacturing operations in Batesburg, S.C., and its Systems Division and research facilities in Pittsburgh, Pa.
