UNICOMP Enhances Year 2000 Solution For IBM System/36 Users On Windows NT.

MARIETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 15, 1997--UNICOMP, INC. (NASDAQ: UCMP) today announced that its subsidiary, Unibol, Inc., has released UNIBOL36-Version 6, which allows IBM System/36 applications to be redeployed on Windows NT in conjunction with its year 2000 tool. This solution gives System/36 users a real option for future growth as they search for an alternative to their System/36 before the year 2000 deadline.

Unibol is currently working with a number of customers including DHL Worldwide Express, Scotland's Glasgow City Council and Holland America's subsidiary, Gray Line of Alaska, to ensure their applications are year 2000 ready.

UNIBOL36 allows System/36 applications to be rehosted on Microsoft Windows NT as well as on a wide choice of leading Unix platforms. Year 2000 features in Version 6 of UNIBOL36 include Date Indexed Files which will allow applications to be made year 2000 ready with minimal changes to program sources or data file layouts. New operation codes, new keywords, extensions to date related operations, the ability to define various digit fields, arrays or tables as being of type 'date', and support for Julian date type mean substantial advantages to users preparing their applications for the year 2000. Unibol has also created its own extensions to the RPGII and COBOL programming languages, RPG2000 and COBOL2000, which are included in Version 6.

To assist System/36 users with the move to Windows NT, Unibol is providing a free Vulnerability Analysis of System/36 code for year 2000 date compliance. Unibol's year 2000 methodology and toolset is known as GO2000. It was specifically developed by Unibol to handle century problems in System/36 and UNIBOL36 code. The complete solution includes an Executive Overview which provides information on potential exposure to date format problems; an Impact Analysis which provides an accurate picture of the impact of the year 2000 dates; a Build and Unit Test which includes program modifications; an Application Test ensuring the applications work before, on and after January 1st, 2000; and finally Implementation of the year 2000 compliant applications with post-implementation support.
