 UNICO AMERICAN'S INSURANCE SUBSIDIARY
HAS A- (EXCELLENT) RATING AFFIRMED BY A.M. BEST
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Unico American Corporation (NASDAQ: UNAM) today announced that its principal insurance subsidiary, Crusader Insurance Company, has been assigned a rating of A- (excellent) by the firm of A.M. Best. This rating was unchanged from the prior year.
The company said that the rating took into account the claims received as a result of the looting and fire damage due to the Los Angeles-area riots. Unico had previously announced that the cost of these claims, after the recovery provided by reinsurance, would not affect Crusader's solvency.
Erwin Cheldin, chairman of Unico, said, "We are pleased with this recognition that our strength and commitment to excellence in insurance service remain intact. We look forward to a positive future based on continued growth and ongoing 'partnerships' with our agents, customers and all those with whom we have worked successfully in years past."
Unico American Corporation is an insurance holding company which provides property, casualty, health and life insurance and related premium financing through its wholly owned subsidiaries.
