In order to a here to the stringent requirements of the New York City Fire Code, buildings must maintain sufficient sprinkler systems. The custom in midtown buildings is a system comprised of a five to seven thousand gallon pressure tank and a 10,000-gallon or larger gravity tank. After sixty or seventy years of use, many pressure tanks have deteriorated to become potentially hazardous to the buildings, and an economical choice is to replicate the existing system and replace the tank.

Rosenwach Tank recently completed just such a job at a midtown office building. Rosenwach Tank is one of a handful of companies in the metropolitan area with the U and R stamp for the replacement of ASME sprinkler pressure tanks. The tanks are manufactured in their factory in Long Island City. Each individual job requires a careful rigging and installation plan. In the recent installation, a section of the building's bulkhead was removed to allow the vessel entry into the room that houses it. After the tank was installed and reconnected to the building system, the room was closed with matching construction materials.
