UMBC PRESIDENT DR. FREEMAN HRABOWSKI ELECTED TO BALTIMORE GAS & ELECTRIC CO'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 BALTIMORE, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski, III, President of the University of Maryland Baltimore County, has been elected to the board of directors of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (NYSE: BGE), the utility announced today.
 Hrabowski will begin his term on Jan. 1, 1994.
 "We're delighted to have someone with Dr. Hrabowski's integrity, stature and commitment to the community join us," BG&E chairman Christian H. Poindexter said in making the announcement. "His experience in the field of higher education and his leadership skills will make him a real asset to our Board."
 A resident of Owings Mills, Hrabowski became president of the University of Maryland Baltimore County in May 1993. He joined the university campus in 1987 as vice provost and was assigned additional duties as executive vice president in 1990. He also served as UMBC's interim president from September 1992 until his appointment as president in May 1993 by the University of Maryland Board of Regents.
 Hrabowski earned a B.A. from Hampton Institute in 1970. He earned a M.A. in Mathematics and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaigne. He is active in the community and serves on the boards of the Baltimore Equitable Society, Associated Catholic Charities, the University of Maryland Medical System, Citizens Bank of Maryland and the Baltimore Community Foundation.
