UMAX Computer Corporation Announces CacheDoubler-Ready Upgrade Program for the SuperMac S900 Family of Mac OS Compatible Computer Systems; S900 purchasers will receive 32 MB of extra RAM at no cost for a limited time.


FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 4, 1997--UMAX Computer Corporation (UCC An abbreviation for the Uniform Commercial Code. ) today announced a CacheDoubler-Ready Upgrade Program for purchasers of the award-winning UMAX S900 family of Mac OS(TM) compatible computer systems. Anyone who buys a UMAX S900 system between now and November 15, 1997, can upgrade their system during the first six months of 1998 with an S-series CacheDoubler Upgrade Card and a 350 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  604e processor and receive a $1,000 rebate from UMAX. After the upgrade and the rebate, customers will have an incredibly fast and powerful system for less than $1,500 added cost. In addition, S900 purchasers will be entitled to an additional 32 MB of free RAM for units bought and registered between now and November 15, 1997. All current UMAX S900 systems are CacheDoubler ready, giving the user the ability to add in-line cache technology as is currently shipping in the C600x systems. S-series upgrades are expected to be available in late 1997. The UMAX CacheDoubler runs the processor bus at twice the speed of the system bus allowing cached data to be presented to the processor in one-half the time. Product Features

The SuperMac S900 line of Mac-OS compatible computers offers customers a powerful, expandable, upgradeable, and very rugged system. All S900 systems ship with at least 32 MB of RAM and can support up to 1 GB RAM.
