UMAX ASTRA 4450 SCANNER NOW AVAILABLE.


UMAX Technologies, Inc., a provider of imaging technologies, recently announced the availability of its Astra 4450 high-resolution color scanner with built-in transparency/negative scanning cover. At $129, the Astra 4450 48-bit color scanner features 1200 x 2400 dpi resolution, USB USB

The Astra 4450 ships with everything consumers, prosumers and SOHO users need to scan right out of the box. The package includes award-winning ABBYY FineReader 4.0 Sprint OCR software and MGI's best-selling PhotoSuite III SE image editing software. The UMAX Copy Utility turns the scanner into a color or black-and-white copy machine, while UMAX VistaScan provides an easy-to-use TWAIN-compliant interface with a PC.

The Astra 4450 supports PCs running Windows 98, 98SE, 2000 or ME operating system, with Pentium-class or better processors, USB port, CD-ROM drive, 64 MB of RAM and 250+ MB of available disk space. A modem and Internet connection are required for Internet and e-mail functions. The Astra 4450 sells for a suggested retail price of $129. The companion Astra 4400 scanner, without transparency cover, has a suggested retail price of $99.
