UK's new environmental research park. (The Beat).


Port Talbot Port Talbot (tôl`bət), town (1981 pop. 40,078), Neath Port Talbot, S Wales, at the mouth of the Avon (Afan) River on Swansea Bay. Port Talbot is a popular seaside resort. Nearby are the steelworks at Margam and the oil refinery at Baglan. , South Wales, is the site of the new 5 million [pounds sterling] Geoenvironmental Research Park, which will host academic, government, and commercial partners that are working to develop recycling, remediation, and waste management technologies and sustainable land management expertise. The park is partially funded by the EU's Objective 1 program. Satellite sites will transfer technologies developed at the park to companies for use in cleaning up the many mining and manufacturing sites in Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536.
