Nearby are the steelworks at Margam and the oil refinery at Baglan. , South Wales, is the site of the new 5 million [pounds sterling] Geoenvironmental Research Park, which will host academic, government, and commercial partners that are working to develop recycling, remediation, and waste management technologies and sustainable land management expertise. The park is partially funded by the EU's Objective 1 program.
