UCLA VS. WASHINGTON STATE.


Tipoff: 7:30 p.m., Pauley Pavilion Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, informally and commonly known as Pauley Pavilion, is an indoor arena located on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, California. It is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams. The men's and women's volleyball teams also play here. .

 (7-18, 4-12) update: The Bruins have had a lot of lows but they can reach a new one tonight - they have never lost to the Cougars in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  in 45 previous games. UCLA coach Steve Lavin Steve Lavin (born September 4,1964), a San Francisco, California native is a former college basketball coach and current ABC and ESPN TV analyst. As UCLA head basketball coach from 1996-2003, Lavin compiled a record of 145-78.  never has lost to Washington State. When the teams last met in Pullman it was one of the few bright spots in UCLA's season as Jason Kapono scored a career-high 44 points, including 9 of 10 3-pointers, and the Bruins were 2-0 in the Pacific-10 Conference. UCLA is tied with Washington for eighth place in the Pac-10, but this game has little potential impact in the race for the final Pacific-10 tournament berth.

Washington State (7-18, 2-14) update: The Cougars have won two in a row and were bolstered by the unexpected return Saturday of their best player, Marcus Moore, who underwent ankle surgery in late January. Moore, a 6-foot-6 point guard, scored 23 points in a 98-76 victory over Washington.

USC (10-15, 5-11) update: If USC wins tonight, it clinches a berth in the Pacific-10 Conference tournament. If the Trojans are swept and UCLA beats Washington but loses to Washington State, there would be a three-way tie between USC, UCLA and Washington. UCLA and Washington would finish ahead of the Trojans in a tiebreaker tie·break·er

. If USC is swept and UCLA sweeps the Washington schools, the Trojans and Huskies would tie for eighth at 5-13. The Huskies, who would be 2-0 against USC, would then earn the final seed.

Washington (9-16, 4-12) update: The Huskies are fighting fora berth in the Pac-10 tournament. If they sweep this weekend, they automatically earn a bid. Washington defeated USC 76-72 in January.

CSUN (13-13, 7-9) update: The Matadors, who have won three in a row and are tied for sixth in the Big West Conference, can improve their seeding for the conference tournament and finish as high as a No. 4 seed or as low as No. 8 after their final games of the season at Utah State and Idaho.

Utah State (19-8, 10-6) update: Utah State is third in the Big West. Desmond Penigar leads the team in scoring with 15.1 points a game and 6.6 rebounds. Utah State has won six of seven meetings against Cal State Northridge, and the Matadors have never won in Logan, Utah, where Utah State has won 54 of 58 home games against Big West opponents.
