Trouble in Paradise?

Not for the Bruins, who dispatched Houston with numbers and talent 71-60 in the season opener before 2,500 Monday night at the Lahaina Civic Center The Lahaina Civic Center is a sports, convention and entertainment complex located in Lahaina, Hawaii, on the island of Maui. It is the site of the annual Maui Invitational college basketball tournament, held every November and hosted by Chaminade University. .

The victory sends No. 3 UCLA into the second round today at 6:30 p.m. (PST PST Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, see there ) against Ball State, which surprised Kansas 93-91 on Patrick Jackson's layin with eight-tenths of a second left.

Jason Kapono Jason Alan Kapono (born February 2 1981 in Long Beach, California) is an American professional basketball player in the NBA, currently with the Toronto Raptors.[1] His previous team was the Miami Heat in 2006-07.  scored 16 points, hitting four 3-pointers, to lead a balanced attack. Matt Barnes added 13 points and UCLA's three freshman - Cedric Bozeman, Andre Patterson and Dijon Thompson - combined for 21 to lead the Bruins.

The Bruins did receive a scare when center Dan Gadzuric took a hard fall 3:10 into the second half, spraining his left ankle, the same one he sprained severely against DePaul in February.

Gadzuric, after laying on the court and wincing for a minute, hopped to the bench on his right leg then was helped to the locker room. However, he was re-tapped and re-entered the game halfway through the second half.

By the time he came back, the Bruins, who led by three at halftime, had built a 14-point lead and were never threatened.

The Bruins looked like they might be in for the same type of finish the way they played in the first half. The Bruins led 30-27 at halftime despite a first half rife with two lingering trends from last season: Center Dan Gadzuric getting in early foul trouble and forward Jason Kapono struggling to get his shots.
