When Curtis got the Bruins going again Sunday it earned them a trip to their first Super Regional since 2000.

Tim Stewart capped the fifth-inning scoring with a sacrifice fly to score Cody Decker for a 6-4 lead.

The Bruins (33-26) added to their cushion in the sixth with an RBI-single by Decker in another rally started by a hit by Curtis.

Curtis, Alden Carrithers, Justin Uribe and Brady Dolan each finished with multiple hits for UCLA.

The run support was more than enough for Bruins sophomore left-hander Tim Murphy (5-4), who posted UCLA's second consecutive complete game. Of the eight hits he allowed, just three were after the third inning. Murphy retired 10 in a row at one point and finished with eight strikeouts.

Long Beach starter Shane Peterson (2-2) lasted just four-plus innings. The sophomore left-hander allowed five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.

Andre Lamontagne was the first of five Dirtbags relievers to follow Peterson and he walked the first batter he faced 7/8Decker-to load the bases with no outs for Cohen.

Long Beach (39-19) had led since scoring three runs in the first.

A two-run double by Robert Perry brought in the game's first runs, and Steve Tinoco followed with a groundout that drove in another run.

UCLA closed within one on the third. Uribe's lead-off double was the Bruins' first hit and ignited a rally that included an RBI-single by Carrithers. Uribe scored UCLA's first run when Dirtbags right fielder Jason Corder dropped a fly ball from Curtis.

Godfrey joined UCLA's Ryan Babineau, Gavin Brooks, Decker and Uribe on the all-tournament team.
