was down 25 points at the half and 46 in the third quarter before falling 66-19 to USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  in last season's meeting at the Coliseum.

It was USC's second-most points scored in the series, and the Trojans gained a staggering 679 yards of offense, including 430 on the ground.

It was so bad, UCLA has tried to wipe it from its memory, and few players are willing to dive into detail about what transpired as the Bruins prepare for Saturday's contest with No. 2 USC at the Rose Bowl.

``To be honest with you, I don't really know,'' UCLA cornerback Trey Brown said when asked what happened last season. ``All I know is this year we get another shot where we can go out there and prove something.''

The Trojans ran 95 offensive plays and put the worst beating on UCLA in the series since 1930.

``We lost. That's about all,'' said UCLA safety Chris Horton about his memory of 2005. ``We didn't come out and play a good game. That's the only thing I remember about it.''

Only when pressed did Horton recall the score, and the fact that UCLA yielded ``more than 600 yards'' of offense.

``It was pushed under the rug right after the game,'' Horton said.

Linebacker concerns: Bruins center Robert Chai said he watched USC's 44-24 triumph against Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. ``I think their strong point is their linebacking corps. They have three really talented guys that can play the position,'' Chai said.

``They've got a lot of speed. That presents a lot of problems because they can make a run to the ball. I think we have to keep moving and keep them a little confused.''

Also: Coach Karl Dorrell still did not say whether Ben Olson or Patrick Cowan will start. The duo again split reps with the first team in practice. -- Bruins senior Justin Hickman was named one of sixfinalists for the Ted Hendricks Award The Ted Hendricks Award is given annually to college football's top defensive end. His mother died of a heart attack Nov. 17. However, Dorrell said McGee will not return kicks against the Trojans.
