placekicker Justin Medlock Justin Charles "J-Med" Medlock Born October 23, 1983 in Fremont, California is a free agent American football kicker. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs and played only one regular season game for the team.  was arrested by the California Highway Patrol highway patrol

It will likely keep Medlock, one of the top kickers in the West, from playing in the Bruins' bowl game later this month.

Medlock, 22, was transported to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  and booked on a felony charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department's Web site.

He was treated for injuries, police said. An unidentified passenger was also injured, but details were not available.

``We are aware of it (the arrest),'' UCLA spokesman Marc Dellins said. ``We're gathering information and until we know all the facts, it would be premature for us to comment.''

Medlock was released at 8:58 p.m. Saturday after posting a $10,000 bond. He has a Jan. 3 appearance at Inglewood Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m.

Medlock faces fines and possible jail time, and a possible suspension from the football program.

``We are still gathering facts,'' said Medlock's mother, Tammy. A year ago UCLA coach Karl Dorrell suspended seniors Ben Lorier and Eyoseph Efseaff for the Las Vegas Bowl The Las Vegas Bowl is an NCAA-sanctioned Division I-A post-season college football bowl game that has been played annually at 40,000-seat Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada since 1992.  after the duo arrived to a team meeting drunk.

In past instances involving an arrest, Dorrell suspended the player for a minimum of one game. If Medlock is suspended, it would keep the junior out of the Dec. 30 Sun Bowl against Northwestern, and put UCLA's kicking game in a quandary.

Medlock, who was 13 of 17 on field goal attempts, is the only placekicker the Bruins (9-2) used the last two seasons. Freshmen walk-ons Brian Mallette and Jimmy Rotstein, or punter Aaron Perez, could be forced to handle the kicking duties.

Dorrell was brought to UCLA, in part, to clean up UCLA's off-the-field image, and he has done so. This is the first arrest a UCLA football player in more than two years.

Medlock was arrested at 3:42 a.m. by the California Highway Patrol, according to the CHP CHP Chapter
