UCLA BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK: PLANS TO UPDATE PAULEY IN WORKS.

 plans to renovate Pauley Pavilion Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, informally and commonly known as Pauley Pavilion, is an indoor arena located on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, California. It is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams. The men's and women's volleyball teams also play here.  in time for the 2010-11 season, with an eye on dedicating the refurbished arena on the 100th birthday of legendary coach John Wooden.

Although a price tag for the improvements was not given, sources said the school is trying to raise $80 million to $120million.

UCLA athletic director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic  Dan Guerrero said it is possible the men's basketball team could be displaced for a season during the renovation project, but that will not be determined until the construction schedule is set.

UCLA is in the quiet phase of fund raising, meeting with influential alumnae and boosters with the hope of securing half of the funds before making a public push.

``We anticipate launching the public phase in the fall,'' Guerrero said. ``We're extremely excited and enthusiastic about the many favorable responses about the project.''

Pauley Pavilion, which opened in 1965, was built for $5.2 million. Among the planned renovations are improved locker rooms, a media room, a medical treatment area, practice facilities and additional concession areas and restrooms.

Also included in the plans is a central entrance area that would celebrate UCLA's athletic tradition, as well as a retractable re·tract
