 UCF PRESIDENT NAMED TO SUNBANK, N.A.'s BOARD
 ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- John C. Hitt, president of


the University of Central Florida has been elected to the board of directors for SunBank, N.A. according to Buell G. Duncan Jr., chairman of the board.
 Before moving to Central Florida, Hitt was the Interim President of the University of Maine, in Orono, Maine. This position also acts as the chief administrative officer of the Land-Grant University and Sea-Grant College of Maine. Hitt began at the university in 1987 as vice president for academic affairs and professor of psychology. Hitt also held positions at Bradley University; Texas Christian University and Tulane University.
 Hitt graduated from Austin College, Texas with an A.B. in psychology. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in psychology from Tulane University. He is a member of the American Association for Higher Education, National Council of Chief Academic Officers, American Psychology Association and American Association of University Administrators. Hitt has co-written a collection of publications and received numerous academic honors.
 Established in 1963, the University of Central Florida is one of nine universities in the state university system. Original enrollment at the university was 1,948. The 1991 preliminary fall enrollment was 21,157. UCF has over 900 faculty members and maintains a student/faculty ratio of 17/1. The university houses six separate colleges with 141 degree programs. As of Summer Term 1991, UCF had awarded over 58,000 degrees.
 SunBank, N.A. is the largest bank in Central Florida with 64 offices located throughout Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Brevard counties.
