UCB Japan, Daiichi Pharmaceutical to Reinforce Their Collaboration for Antiallergic Agent Zyrtec.


Tokyo, Japan, Aug 2, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - UCB UCB - University of California at Berkeley  Japan (UCBJ) and Daiichi Pharmaceutical have agreed to form a long-term alliance in sales of Zyrtec Tablet 5 and Zyrtec Tablet 10, UCBJ's proprietary antiallergic an·ti·al·ler·gic

Under the terms of the agreement, Daiichi Pharmaceutical will retain the right to co-promote the product with Sankyo until September when their joint holding company Daiichi Sankyo is established.

An orally active and selective H1-receptor antagonist currently prescribed in over 100 countries worldwide, Zyrtec shows significant antiallergic effects with a once-a-day dosage.

Daiichi Pharmaceutical and GlaxoSmithKline has been distributing the agent in Japan since 1998.
