UCAL BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK: SHIPP CONTRIBUTES DESPITE CRAMPING UP.

Josh Shipp Josh Shipp (born 23 January in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is an American motivational speaker and author focusing on youth and college-aged audiences. He is noted as being one of the youngest speakers ever accepted into the National Speakers Association.  watched the end of UCLA's rout over Washington from the bench, this time due to leg cramps.

Shipp hadn't practiced since Tuesday because of a sprained right ankle but his quadriceps and hamstring muscles in both legs gave way to cramps.

Shipp played just 23 minutes in UCLA's 96-74 win Sunday at Pauley Pavilion Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, informally and commonly known as Pauley Pavilion, is an indoor arena located on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, California. It is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams. The men's and women's volleyball teams also play here.  but had 13 points, three assists, three rebounds, one steal and one turnover.

``I haven't been able to practice and I kind of lost my conditioning,'' Shipp said. ``I just didn't have it.''

 didn't need Shipp at the end since it dominated Washington in every way, shape and form. Shipp worked on his shot the past couple of days since the Pac-10 opening win over Washington State.

Last year, Shipp played in just four games and had hip surgery.

This year, he's injured his ankle and missed time Sunday with cramps.

``As a player, you want to be competing until the end,'' Shipp said. ``It was tough watching, but the guys did a great job.''

Road trip: UCLA now takes its first true road trip of the season as it plays the Oregon schools next week and USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  the following week.

The Bruins played in the Maui Classic and the Wooden Classic but those games were on neutral courts.

This is the first time the undefeated Bruins will play in a hostile environment See: operational environment.  and it's January.

``This is just another big test for us,'' Bruins guard Arron Afflalo Arron Agustin Afflalo (born October 15, 1985) is an American professional basketball player, currently with the Detroit Pistons. He recently completed a three-year career at University of California, Los Angeles in the Pacific Ten Conference of the NCAA as the starting shooting  said.

``We plan on going 3-0, but you have to take them one at a time. We usually play good on the road.''

UCLA was 8-2 on the road last season. The Bruins lost more games (three) at Pauley Pavilion than they did in road games. UCLA was also 10-2 on neutral courts.

Also: Afflalo's five 3-pointers Sunday tied a season-high. His 20 first- half points were the most of his career for a half. -- UCLA scored on 57 percent of its possessions Sunday. -- Washington freshman Spencer Hawes Spencer Hawes (born April 28 1988, in Seattle, Washington) is an American basketball player who was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the 2007 NBA Draft. He is the nephew of Steve Hawes, a retired National Basketball Association (NBA) player.  has scored 20 points in six of his past seven games. -- Howland is now 4-4 against Washington. -- Washington is 3-41 at Pauley Pavilion.
