UC Irvine Extension Offers 10-Week Managers Webinar Series.

Online Courses Give Managers in Any Field the Tools to Work More Productively and Efficiently

IRVINE, Calif. -- UC Irvine Extension is hosting a 10-week Managers Webinar Series beginning Wednesday, January 10, 2007. The online courses will be held once a week from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and can be completed from any computer with internet access. The online Webinar Series is designed specifically to provide managers with just in time solutions and ideas that can be applied to the job immediately.

"Online webinars are a wonderful addition to the business and management curriculum at UC Irvine Extension because it provides an opportunity for companies to train managers across multiple business locations in a quick, efficient way," said Lori Munoz-Reiland, director of Business, Management, Legal and Information Technology for UC Irvine Extension. "By hosting the webinars during lunch, busy professionals can refresh their skills right from their desks without missing a beat at work."

Each webinar will give participants proven tips that can be applied immediately. The courses cover a number of vital topics for today's busy managers. The courses include:

* Week One - Effective Virtual Management - Learn how to manage even when project teams are dispersed throughout different cities, states or even time zones

* Week Two - Getting Your Project Funded - Discuss the most effective ways to present your business proposal to upper management

* Week Three - Maximizing Employee Retention - Explore the key strategies to keep and maintain your staff

* Week Four - Hiring the Right Employee - Discuss how to process and categorize resumes as well as how to determine if a potential employee will fit in your office environment

* Week Five - Effective Verbal Communication - Gain new skills and tools to polish current communication and be able to communicate well in any business situation

* Week Six - Effective Written Communication - Learn how to adapt your writing style to fit any type of business formats

* Week Seven - Ethics in the Workplace - Explore some of the most common ethical dilemmas and explore ways to handle them

* Week Eight - New Media Marketing - Obtain knowledge on using podcasts to advertise to new markets, as well as utilizing blogs to stay in touch with customers

* Week Nine - Leading and Motivating Diverse Teams - Develop the skills to adapt your management style to accommodate all types of employees

* Week Ten - Shared Solutions: Resolving Workplace Conflicts - Learn dispute resolution skills and how to effectively use them
