UAL CORP. TO SELL AIR WISCONSIN TURBOPROP BUSINESS TO UNITED FEEDER SERVICE

CHICAGO, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- UAL Corp. (NYSE: UAL), parent company of United Airlines, announced today that it has reached tentative agreement to sell the turboprop airline business of UAL's wholly owned Air Wis subsidiary based at O'Hare International Airport.
The purchaser is United Feeder Service (UFS), a new airline company being formed by Hulas Kanodia, an airline executive who currently owns and operates Trans States Airlines, a TWA Express carrier based in St. Louis.
Air Wisconsin operates 38 daily flights from its O'Hare hub throughout the Midwest with 64-passenger turboprop aircraft as a United Express feeder carrier providing connections to United Airlines flights. United Airlines operates 435 flights daily at O'Hare.
The transaction, which will be finalized on or about Sept. 1, 1993, is not expected to have any appreciable impact on scheduled airline service for United Express customers, UAL said.
Earlier this year, UAL Corp. sold Air Wis' Dash 8 turboprop operation based at Washington, D.C.'s Dulles International Airport to Atlantic Coast Airlines. UAL Corp. said it is continuing negotiations with several potential purchasers for Air Wisconsin's jet operations.
Additional details about the turboprop transaction with UFS will be released when they are finalized.
