U2 BRINGS BIZARRE SCENE TO OAKLAND CONCERT.


Every seat was sold for Wednesday night's U2 concert at the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Wednesday night, but they were hardly used. After the first song, ``Mofo'' (off the band's latest album, ``Pop''), sitting down was an option rarely exercised.

The band, which will play the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Coliseum on Saturday, came in like prizefighters, sauntering through the crowd. Check that. They looked like the Village People impersonating prizefighters. Much of the action during the 21-song, two-hour show took place on a giant screen that flashed images of celebrities (John Belushi John Adam Belushi (January 24, 1949 – March 5, 1982) was an Emmy Award-winning American comedian, actor and musician, notable for his work on Saturday Night Live, National Lampoon's Animal House and The Blues Brothers. , Rod Stewart), a violent liquor store hold-up. A giant yellow, McDonald's-style arc and a tremendous toothpick/olive combo framed the band.
