U.S. bishops send letter of support (to the Anglican Church of Canada).


This summer American Anglicans debated two of the major issues Canadians will face next year, welcoming Lutherans into full communion Full communion is a term used in Christian ecclesiology to describe relations between two distinct Christian communities or Churches that, while maintaining some separateness of identity, recognise each other as sharing the same communion and the same essential doctrines.  while cautiously acknowledging the presence of unmarried committed couples in their pews.

 U.S.A.'s 73rd General Convention in Denver heard from Archbishop Michael Peers The Most Reverend Michael Geoffrey Peers (born 1934) was Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada from 1986 till 2004.

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1934, Archbishop Peers completed an undergraduate degree in languages at the University of British Columbia in 1956
 about a number of issues, including residential schools.

The bishops sent a letter of support to the Canadian church, while many individual bishops and delegates offered to help in any way possible.

As the bishops of the Episcopal Church USA, we send this message to you so that you may know of the strong bonds of affection we feel for you during this troubled time in the life of your community.
