 U.S. SEN. SPECTER ANNOUNCES $1.9 MILLION GRANT
 TO PENNSYLVANIA HOUSING PROJECTS
 WASHINGTON, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $1,906,960 to 10 Pennsylvania housing projects, four of which are in Philadelphia.
 Specter said the awards are funded under the FY 1992 Public and Indian Housing Homeownership and Opportunity for People Everywhere (HOPE 1) Planning Program Grant Awards. HOPE 1 Planning Grants fund activities which help prepare low-income families to purchase public and Indian housing. Activities funded include the development of resident councils and management corporations, homeownership counseling and training, economic development planning, homeownership feasibility studies, preliminary architectural and engineering work, and security plans.
 The projects awarded to Philadelphia are as follows:
 -- The Abbottsford Homes and Tenant Management Corporation received $318,000 for activities at Abbottsford Homes, 3210 B, McMichael St., Philadelphia;
 -- The Greater Germantown Housing Development Corporation received $200,000 for activities at Morton Homes Public Housing Complex, 5920 Morton St., Philadelphia;
 -- The Housing Association of Delaware Valley received $200,000 for activities at Queen Lane I and III, 301 W. Penn St., Philadelphia;
 -- The Friends Neighborhood Guild, Inc. received $200,000 for activities at Spring Garden Apartments and Ludlow Homes, both located in eastern North Philadelphia.
 The other Pennsylvania projects are as follows:
 -- The Fayette County Community Action Agency, Inc. received $138,570 for activities at Lemmonwood Acres in North Union Township;
 -- The Housing Authority of Chester County received $97,000 for activities at Coatesville-Hillcrest/Broadview;
 -- The Interfaith Community Development Corp., Inc. received $136,691 for activities at Penn Village and William Penn Homes in Pottstown, Montgomery County;
 -- The Housing Association of Delaware Valley received $208,000 for activities at Lamokin Village in Chester, Delaware County;
 -- The Housing Association of Delaware Valley received $208,000 for activities at Ruth L. Bennett Homes in Chester;
 -- The Housing Authority of the City of McKeesport received $200,000 for activities at E.R. Crawford Village, in McKeesport, Allegheny County.
