 U.S. SEN. ARLEN SPECTER ANNOUNCES $903,700 GRANT
 TO UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH
 WASHINGTON, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce has awarded a $903,700 grant to the University of Pittsburgh.
 Specter said the funding, which comes under the Economic Development Administration, will be used to establish a Manufacturing Assistance Center to assist small manufacturers in developing new products and procedures. The services will be available to small and mid-sized manufacturers located in the seven counties around the Pittsburgh area.
 "I feel this funding will provide needed assistance to the small manufacturers of western Pennsylvania to develop competitive products," Specter said in announcing the grant.
