U.S. Navy Awards Harris Corporation $3.7 Million Production Contract for Aircraft Cockpit Digital Maps.

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), the world leader in cockpit digital moving maps for military aircraft, announced today that it has been awarded a $3.7 million Lot 3 production contract by the U.S. Navy to provide Tactical Airborne Moving Map Capability (TAMMAC) Digital Map Computers (DMCs) for U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Army aircraft. The TAMMAC DMCs provide military aviators with highly sophisticated moving map capabilities and other mission-critical data via cockpit displays onboard the aircraft. Harris has been awarded $23 million in TAMMAC contracts to date, with the potential overall program value expected to reach $75 million by 2011.

TAMMAC DMCs are currently used onboard the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps F/A-18C/D Hornet and the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. Future aircraft to be outfitted with the TAMMAC DMC include the U.S. Marine's AH-1Z and UH-1Y helicopters, the AV-8B Harrier, and the U.S. Army's CH-47F Improved Cargo Helicopter (ICH). The TAMMAC DMC provides pilots with two independent channels of real-time, digital moving map data in various display modes, including terrain elevation and geo-referenced satellite imagery that is overlaid with threat and terrain conflict information.
