The ADCS solution transforms the approach to aircraft maintenance, reducing aircraft downtime and maintenance costs, while improving long-term maintenance planning. The solution also decreases the amount of paperwork involved in the maintenance process and eliminates transcription errors by providing a single point of data entry for maintenance-related information. The software application runs on both the desktop and pen-tablet personal computers, giving examiners an easily mobile, powerful electronic assistance. It can be adapted for use in a wide variety of inspection and data capture environments and easily integrated with legacy systems. "This award is exciting to both AMS and our customers because it puts ADCS in the forefront as a corporate source data capture solution for naval aviation depot maintenance," said Mike Long, vice president and general manager of AMS's Federal Defense Group. "ADCS will ease the burden on aviation maintenance personnel and their support echelon by allowing the condition of complicated equipment to be noted and captured quickly and easily, while identifying repairs and material needed to return the aircraft to warfighter in the shortest time possible." "Implementing eBusiness throughout the naval aircraft depot community will save the Navy both money and time," said Chester Muise, AMS Vice President. "Electronically collecting repair and maintenance information and feeding it automatically into several systems simultaneously, will not only populate the databases of those systems but it will also increase the intelligence generated by those systems across the board. The bottom line is that naval aircraft will spend less time in the depot and more time supporting America's warfighters." ADCS has been in use since July 2000 across all aircraft repair lines at the Naval Aviation Depot in Jacksonville, Fla. The results in Jacksonville led to the implementation of ADCS in the Navy's eBusiness pilot project on the E- 2C. Labor savings realized in Jacksonville total over $1M annually for each aircraft line and include cutting inspection time from 15 to two days and work document production lead-time from four days to one hour. The order was placed on February 28 under the GSA's MOBIS MOBIS Management, Organizational and Business Improvement Services MOBIS Mission Oriented Business Integration Services (US government contract) MOBIS Management Oriented Budget Information System contract and covers work performed in San Diego, Calif. and Jacksonville, Fla. from February 28 through August 2, 2002.
