U.S. Electricar's Electrolite 2000 is its first industrial vehicle designed specifically for the international commercial delivery market, where EVs can meet clean air restrictions that limit the use of internal combustion vehicles due to hazardous air-quality conditions.

Called the Electrolite because of its low-power consumption drive system, lightweight steel chassis and composite body, the vehicle is designed for inner-city deliveries, with a load capacity of up to one ton.

Twin DC motors, available in either 48 to 120 volts, offer a top speed of up to 40 mph and a range of 60 miles per charge. In August, U.S. Electricar entered into a joint venture with Grupo Industrial Casa of Mexico City to introduce several electric and hybrid-electric industrial vehicles and buses throughout North, Central and South America South America, fourth largest continent (1991 est. pop. 299,150,000), c.6,880,000 sq mi (17,819,000 sq km), the southern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. .
