 petitioned for habeas corpus habeas corpus (hā`bēəs kôr`pəs) [Lat.,=you should have the body], writ directed by a judge to some person who is detaining another, commanding him to bring the body of the person in his custody at a specified time to a  relief and the district court denied the petition. The court found that absent a state statute, the prisoner bad no federal constitutional right to credit for time spent in out-of-state custody while he was an absconder from the state's criminal justice system.
