(Letters).18 AWARDS from the Associated Church Press Once again, U.S. CATHOLIC beat out the tough competition from publications such as The Christian Century, Sojourners, Episcopal Life, The Other Side, and The Lutheran to become the top award winner in this interdenominational in·ter·de·nom·i·na·tion·al adj. U.S. CATHOLIC took home a total of 18 awards honoring our general excellence and "editorial courage" as well as a broad range of our editorial offerings, our graphics and design, and our marketing efforts. The ACP (Associate Computing Professional) The award for successful completion of an examination in computers offered by the ICCP. It is geared to newcomers in the computing field. ACP - Algebra of Communicating Processes judges praised U.S. CATHOLIC's "strong reporting and writing on a broad range, of stories in a profound editorial mix. The magazine achieves delivery of hard-hitting news examining sensitive issues." U.S. CATHOLIC won the Award of Merit for "Best Denominational Magazine" and six Awards of Excellence, including for "Best Web site," for "Editorial Courage" (in covering the clergy sexual-abuse crisis), and for best magazine cover. 15 AWARDS from the Catholic Press Association In the general excellence category, the CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000. judges singled U.S. CATHOLIC out for its "design format, use of photography, illustration, and color." Among others, the CPA bestowed awards on our June 2002 issue ("Unflinching look at pedophilia pedophilia, psychosexual disorder in which there is a preference for sexual activity with prepubertal children.
