U.S. Army awards FCT contract to LNY for evaluation of RSD/Dorbyl South African vehicular mine detection system.

Under the Defense Department's Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT FCT Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia (Portuguese University)

) program, RSD/Dorbyl was selected by the U.S. Army to participate in the program to evaluate and test their system against specific U.S. military mine detection requirements.

According to Gino Leone, president of LNY LNY Lanai City, HI, USA - Lanai (Airport Code)  Sales Inc., "RSD/Dorbyl is the first South African company invited to participate in the FCT program and the only known company manufacturing tactically-proven commercial vehicular mine detection systems designed for the safe detection of land mines."

The system will undergo two phases of testing. Phase One will focus on the detector pan portion of the system in order to evaluate the electronics. Phase Two will test the survivability sur·viv·a·ble  
adj.
1. Capable of surviving: survivable organisms in a hostile environment.

2. That can be survived: a survivable, but very serious, illness.
 of the vehicle over various explosive devices as well as adaptability in multiple terrains and under diversified environmental conditions. Testing is to be conducted under the supervision of an evaluation team from the U.S. Army and representatives from RSD/Dorbyl and their exclusive U.S. agent, LNY Sales Inc. Under the provisions of the contract, Phase One testing of the vehicular mine detection system is scheduled to begin at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia mine lanes in late September.
