) Program. E&S' new EPX EPX Enterprise Private Exchange (TM)-50 image generator was selected as a result of a rigorous competitive evaluation of a number of PC-based solutions. EPX-50 uses E&S' Environment Processor software with military extensions (EPX) and runs on a standard PC equipped with a state-of-the-art commercially available graphics accelerator A display adapter that performs a specialized set of graphics functions to render an image on screen. Today, all display adapters provide basic rendering functions in hardware, but many have graphics processing units (GPUs) that are sophisticated computers.  from ATI Technologies “ATI” redirects here. . This is the first major award for the E&S EPX-50 system, which was announced late in 2003.

The CCTT visuals program was awarded through PEO-STRI's Omnibus contract, which was announced in 2001. The contract, referred to as STOC STOC Symposium on Theory of Computing

, prequalified E&S and a number of other companies for contracts with PEO-STRI. The CCTT program has fielded nearly 450 simulators to provide tactical training for combined-arms battlefield situations for heavy forces (heavy armor, fighting vehicles and cavalry units). The new contract is valued at $14.7 million with firm and optional requirements during 2004 and 2005.

"This is an important contract for E&S, and a clear strategic advance for the Army," said E&S President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Jim Oyler. "E&S has successfully proven that EPX-50 meets all of the CCTT program's visual requirements. This innovative implementation of a PC-based system solidifies E&S' position as the only full-range supplier of visual systems with the same software and databases spanning the full range of hardware.

"The U.S. Army has met an important goal in its transformation program by selecting a system based on PC hardware, allowing significant savings in deployment and support costs. Moreover, selection of E&S Environment Processor technology provides the potential for database commonality across a number of training and mission rehearsal programs."
