U.S. Army National Guard deploys NetCracker OSS solution.


NetCracker Technology, a provider of OSS Oss (ôs), city (1994 pop. 62,141), North Brabant prov., S Netherlands; chartered 1399. It is a significant industrial center. Manufactures include meat products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, and metalware.  and IT Infrastructure Management Solutions, announced recently that the U.S. Army National Guard is using the NetCracker OSS solution to streamline the management of all of its national telecommunications network A telecommunications network is a of telecommunications links and nodes arranged so that messages may be passed from one part of the network to another over multiple links and through various nodes.  and IT assets.

The U.S. Army National Guard will use NetCracker to gain an enterprise-wide view of its national network and IT infrastructure. Currently, each of the 54 U.S. states A U.S. state is any one of the fifty subnational entities of the United States, although four states use the official title "commonwealth". The separate state governments and the federal government share sovereignty, in that an American is a citizen both of the federal entity and  and territories manages its IT and network assets separately. By deploying the NetCracker solutions at the enterprise level, the Army National Guard will be able to drastically improve oversight and planning capabilities, realize significant cost savings across the enterprise and provide better service to the end users. This multi-phase deployment includes business process reengineering See reengineering. , significant data migration, extensive integration and retirement of several legacy systems.

. The U.S. military has some of the largest and most complex telecommunications network systems in the world. The selection of NetCracker as the solution provider over all other vendors is a testament to how powerful and scalable the NetCracker solution is."

Prior to selecting NetCracker, the Army National Guard did a comprehensive evaluation of a number of solutions. It selected NetCracker because of the broad product capabilities and proven scalability of the NetCracker solution as well as NetCracker's proven delivery capabilities. To ensure a successful long-term relationship, the government evaluated NetCracker's financial viability and corporate security and the Defense Contracting Audit Agency performed an audit as part of the selection process. The National Guard has already kicked off the NetCracker implementation and expects to start to realize benefits shortly.
