U.S. Army's European Command Signs $2.5 Million Deal for Windows Migration and Management Products from Quest Software.

Quest to Aid U.S. Army Exchange Migration for More Than 60,000 Military Personnel

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT) today announced that the U.S. Army's European Command (USAREUR) has selected and deployed Quest products for migrating and managing its Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange infrastructure. USAREUR signed a contract with Quest for products that will be used to migrate the command's 55,000 users on unclassified mailboxes across the European Theatre from Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 to Exchange Server 2003, as well as an additional number of users on classified mailboxes.

"As the USAREUR migrates its Exchange systems, we anticipate uninterrupted service to our users so that critical information can be delivered and maximized to support the war fighter and overall mission success."

The deal also includes professional services provided by Quest, and comprises the following products:

* Quest Exchange Migration Wizard to transition USAREUR's Exchange 5.5-based environments to Exchange 2003 environments.

* Quest MessageStats[TM] to analyze Exchange 5.5 infrastructure usage and help prepare for the command's migration to Exchange 2003. MessageStats will also help analyze and report on the new Exchange 2003 infrastructure.

* Quest ActiveRoles to centralize the management of Active Directory, Windows resources and helpdesk tasks.

USAREUR needed to update its Exchange Server environment to help reduce administrative maintenance and increase end-user functionality. Quest was selected to perform a gradual migration that would ensure a seamless and non-disruptive transition for users. Quest has migrated more than 10 million Exchange mailboxes to date for both public- and private-sector customers. Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 will afford USAREUR's users secure, remote access and advanced e-mail collaboration, as well as lower the total cost of ownership and maintenance for the command.

USAREUR's decision to migrate its Exchange infrastructure follows the successful Active Directory migration of 65,000 users that Quest supported in 2004. Upon successful completion of the Exchange migration, USAREUR will use Quest solutions to continue to secure and manage the command's new infrastructure.
