U.K. offenders get housing priority. (General).

 -- Offenders leaving prison will be given priority for council housing under amendments to the Housing Act, however some advocates fear they will just be joining a waiting list.

The British government is introducing the change as part of its strategy to reduce reoffending. Councils will be required to provide housing to those who are "vulnerable as a result of leaving prison" along with existing priority categories, such as homeless families and those with mental health problems.

The Revolving Doors Agency says up to 40% of those who leave prison are homeless and therefore two to three times more likely to reoffend.
