U.B. FOODS RECEIVES STATE FUNDS FOR PLANT IN CHESTER COUNTY
HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Gov. Robert P. Casey today announced the approval of $750,000 in additional state funding for an international food processor that is establishing a $42 million plant and creating 155 jobs in Chester County.
The loan, awarded through the Commerce Department's Business Infrastructure Development (BID) program, will be used by Oxford Borough to serve British-owned U.B. Foods U.S. Inc. It will be used to build a sewage pumping station, improve an intersection, and to build a water main and a single rail spur. The infrastructure project is expected to be completed by July.
"BID grants help communities improve industrial sites and create jobs," Casey said.
The company previously received a $2 million loan through the Pennsylvania Industry Development Authority and $500,000 through the Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund.
U.B. Foods U.S., a subsidiary of United Biscuits, includes Keebler Co., Bernardi Italian Foods, The Original Chili Bowl and Emerald Industries. The company will renovate a 125,000 square-foot building and construct a 25,000 square-foot addition. The company plans to open the plant in the summer of 1993.
