U OUGHT TO KNOW...

Byline: -- Evan Henerson

WHY U OUGHT TO KNOW HER: The West Hills native is the dance captain for Broadway's recently opened musical ``The Wedding Singer.''

FROM AUDREY TO ANGELIQUE: Audrey Patrick was a dancer from age 5, beginning with classes in Sylmar. In her teens, under the tutelage TUTELAGE. State of guardianship; the condition of one who is subject to the control of a guardian.  of choreographer/actor Steven Peck, Audrey became Angelique Ilo.

Before moving east, Ilo also attended Canoga Park High School Canoga Park High School is a public school located in Canoga Park in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California, USA, within the Los Angeles Unified School District.

ANSWERING THE `WEDDING' BELL: Ilo was initially unfamiliar with the 1998 Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore film on which the Broadway musical is based. Her kids, however, knew all about the tale of unlucky-in-love crooner Robbie Hart Robert Hart (born October 9 1947) is an English former football referee in the English Football League and Premier League. Ilo had the flexibility of working on a show with an out-of-town engagement. ``The Wedding Singer'' had its pre-Broadway run at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre in February.

``My kids (daughter Sonya and son Leif Harum) are 17 and 18. They're still in the nest, but I'm flying the coop,'' says Ilo. ``The appeal for me was doing something with a different choreographer and doing something on Broadway. I wasn't sure whether I was done or not.''

THE RE-CREATOR: ``I like to stick with one choreographer and hold tight with them,'' says Ilo, who has appeared in three shows choreographed by Susan Stroman as well as in the film version of Stroman's ``The Producers.''

Ilo has choreographed shows, but she has spent much of her professional career re-creating existing steps. She recently restaged the choreography of Stroman's ``Crazy for You'' for a company in Holland.

11 YEARS IN ONE SINGULAR SENSATION: And speaking of forging relationships, Ilo worked closely with ``A Chorus Line's'' Michael Bennett

THE FLOOR GENERAL: As a dance captain, Ilo works closely with choreographer Rob Ashford to ensure that all the ``Wedding Singer'' hoofers have the '80s groove thing going on. Part psychologist, part police, Ilo knows the steps of the entire show and is responsible for inserting any understudy or replacement.

She's also an understudy herself, covering the role of Angie and all of the female ensemble.

``She keeps the show nice and crisp, keeping everyone who's involved up to date,'' says director John Rando. ``This is a very heavy dance show, with very different kinds of dances throughout the evening.''

SELLING, BUT NO WAITING: Over a 30-year career treading the boards in New York, Ilo never took a single menu order or bused a table.

Three years ago, however, she took and passed the real-estate license exam.

``I do real estate, it's hard to say part time, but I just love the business of renovating homes and living in a home,'' she says. ``If I could be Martha Stewart and me at same time, I would be.''
