MELISSA: ``Here We Go'' (Green Circle Music) - Three stars

Melissa has a knack for blending catchy folk melodies with playful lyrics about sea horses, magic wagon rides and ``Chocolate Ice Cream.''

As if her originals weren't enough, she also breathes new life into old favorites. She gives Old MacDonald a cat on ``E, I, O'' and puts the twinkle in ``Shining Star'' with help from Beau Edmonson (aka Beau Elliot) on mandolin mandolin (măn'dəlĭn`, măn`dəlĭn'), musical instrument of the lute family, with a half-pear-shaped body, a fretted neck, and a variable number of strings, plucked with the fingers or with a plectrum. .

Kids and parents are invited to celebrate ``Here We Go'' at a record release party and performance from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Mommy and Me, 3646 Coldwater Canyon, Studio City.
