Tymphany Appoints Poul Praestgaard Vice President of Engineering for Denmark Operations; Former Bang & Olufsen Acoustic Expert Directs Tymphany's Danish Technology Teams.


VIDEBAEK, Denmark & TASTRUP, Denmark -- Tymphany(TM) Corporation, a leader in innovative audio solutions, today announced the appointment of Poul Praestgaard as Vice President of Engineering for the company's Denmark operations. An acoustic R&D expert, Praestgaard joins Tymphany from Bang & Olufsen, where he was Senior Technology and Innovation Manager for Acoustic Technology and Loudspeakers. At Tymphany, Praestgaard will head the ScanSpeak and Peerless engineering and development teams located at the company's Videbaek and Tastrup facilities in Denmark. He reports to Tonni Birk Sorenson, managing director, Tymphany Denmark.

These teams are responsible for advanced research and development, product design, transducer and acoustic engineering, and application engineering. Praestgaard's team will also be responsible for working closely with Tymphany's OEM customers, to turn their application needs into the best transducer solutions available on the market.

At Bang & Olufsen, Praestgaard participated in national and international acoustics acoustics (ək`stĭks) [Gr.,=the facts about hearing], the science of sound, including its production, propagation, and effects.  R&D projects, including the ADDT, LoDist and MEDUSA, and was active in research conducted at the Sound Quality Research Center at Aalborg University to generate new acoustics ideas and products. Among his achievements, Praestgaard helped implement the acoustic lens technology, acquired from Sausalito Audio Works, in the award winning Beolab 5 loudspeaker loudspeaker or speaker, device used to convert electrical energy into sound. It consists essentially of a thin flexible sheet called a diaphragm that is made to vibrate by an electric signal from an amplifier. , which also used Adaptive Bass Control technology developed in Praestgaard's department at the University. DNV is an independent foundation whose its objectives are "Safeguarding life, property, and the environment" and is a leading provider of services for managing risk.  and a research engineer at Danit Hard Materials.
